Baker, Lewis and Machan rise to occasion at MFC 23

Big-namers Thales Leites and Jason MacDonald were
victorious but it was a trio of rather unheralded fighters
who stole the show at MFC 23: Unstoppable on Friday
        night.

Leites used solid takedown defense and fired off enough spurts of offense to
take a unanimous decision from Dean Lister in the night’s main event at the
River Cree Resort and Casino, just outside Edmonton, Alberta, and live on
HDNet Fights.

Baker takes #2 spot for top ten fights of the year on
Maximum Fighting Championships 23!

It’s a wrap. The Year 2009 is in the books for the
Maximum Fighting Championship so it is time
once again to review the very best of the
campaign gone by with the Z-Files’ annual look
at the Top 10 finishes and fights.

After scrolling through the Top 10 Submissions
and Knockouts of the Year for 2009, it’s time to
put a final stamp on the proceedings with a look
back at the 10 best Fights of the Year. Already we’ve seen Ryan Machan get
credit for the best submission of ’09 while Pete “The Secret Weapon” Spratt
was duly awarded the year’s best knockout. A year ago, the welterweight title
fight between Pat “Bam Bam” Healy and Ryan Ford took the honor as the
MFC‘s Fight of the Year, and now it‘s come time to crown 2009's best
showdown.

Confidence sky-high in Juarez
By MFC Staff - Nov 15, 2009

Newcomer hopes win at Unstoppable paves way to
                 title shot

Jesse Juarez is talking a good fight. And in his
debut in the Maximum Fighting Championship,
Juarez is prepared to back up his talk and walk the
                 walk.

Juarez (11-5) will meet Joe Christopher (9-2) in a showdown of top-ranked
welterweights at MFC 23: Unstoppable on Friday, December 4 at the River
Cree Resort and Casino. Juarez is well aware of his opponent, but didn't
hesitate for an instant before stating his case for their impending clash.

TFC Fighters ready to rumble at MFC 24
for the Maximum Fighting Championship's joint show
with it's sister organization HEAT XC.

Nathan "Gunner" Gunn will be fighting the highly touted
Brazilian Thiago "Jumbo" Goncalves in a welterweight           matchup
that's sure to bring some fireworks.  Also on the card is Thunder Bay
up and comer, David Letourneau.  David's looking to stop the momentum of
Nick Hrynschyshyn, a lightweight that posed a problem on the ground for
Letourneau's teammate, Jesse MacDougall.

Rounding out the trio is Light Heavyweight Jared "J-Rod" Kilkenny who's
looking to bounce back after two tough losses in the heayweight and light
heavyweight division.  Kilkenny is coming back down to light heavyweight to
face off against MFC and HEAT XC veteran Jason Kuchera in what most
are expecting to be a stand up war.
